Sylvania Schréder Recycling Program

With the rapid migration to efficient LED luminaires, Australia currently faces a serious lighting waste challenge — with millions of old light bulbs, tubes, lamps, and assemblies being thrown into landfills each year. Aluminium, steel, glass, and copper are non-renewable sources that can be recycled.

Recycled aluminium requires about 95% less energy to produce than required to mine new ore, further, it is estimated to take between 200 and 500 years for the aluminium to decompose. Sylvania Schréder capabilities stretch beyond the simple supply of products. Our end-to-end solutions span lighting design, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, and the recycling of your old fittings.

ABOUT THE RECYCLE PROGRAMME

We have partnered with Sim’s metal nationally to facilitate the recycling of the old light fittings as removed during your project. This recycling is a positive move which keeps recyclable material out of our landfill. Sim’s metals provide a certificate of recycling which declares the volume of recycled material and a breakdown of material recovered. Sylvania Schréder supplements any monetary benefit from this recycling by way of reimbursement to key stakeholders of the lighting upgrade.
