SENIOR CATEGORY MANAGER – SPORTS AND INDUSTRY

The role is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with customers, engineering, sales, marketing, planning and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Senior Category Manager’s role also includes ensuring that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.

This position shall demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of the work health and safety, environmental and quality management systems; be able to understand and comply with the provisions of the relevant Acts, Regulations, Compliance obligations, Company Policies and Procedures, and communicate these to staff at all levels; actively participate in consultation with staff at all levels regarding matters of occupational health and safety, environmental and quality management.

 

The Senior Category Manager will be responsible for:

  • Strategy - Assists in the setting of sales and marketing strategies for the product portfolio to maximise growth. This will include identification of new market opportunities, development and implementation of sales representative’s sales strategies, and pricing policies.
  • Product - Is responsible for return on investment and profit of the product portfolio. Define the product strategy and roadmap Develop the core positioning and messaging of the products. Introduces and manages product through their life cycle, to end of life.
  • Product Mix - Advises and recommends strategic changes to the product mix, to maintain a competitive product range. Conduct market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products. Identify profitable opportunities that meet market needs.
  • Stock Levels - Recommending suitable stock levels for these product lines. Working closely with stock control personnel. Minimum/maximum stock levels should be established and suitable forecasts provided. Compliance - Liaise with Engineering, Production and Customer Service staff to ensure products are designed, tested and produced to meet Company, Australian Standards and customer requirements.

  • Stock - Works with Logistics (Demand Planners) regarding stock, inventory, forecasts and ranging decisions (stock, make to order, re-range). Determines product end of life and manages stock exit. Reviews and recommends modifications and additions to required

  • Budget - Responsible for budget preparation and monthly forecast reviews to ensure success of product range. Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities. Works with sales personnel to gauge market and get detailed feedback of future sales.
