International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

To mark this special day and month, we are shining a light on a few of the many wonderful women who work for Schréder worldwide, sharing their stories and what this day means to them.

Moling LI is a Business Development Manager for our company in China. She joined the company after graduating from the local Tianjin University in 2001 and celebrated 20 years of working for Schréder in February!

Bringing the SHUFFLE to Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong (photo below) was one of her favourite projects!

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Woman’s Day makes me realise the importance of independence, of creating a better and free life through my own efforts. I consider equal access to education and training as the pathway to a decent job.

Can you tell us about your background and your own role in Schréder?

Well, this year, I will have been working for Schréder for 20 years, so I feel like I belong to a family. I have grown from a young lady to a mature professional woman.

My managers have always encouraged me to challenge myself and expand my experience so I have worked in quite a few different positions over the years. I was initially hired as Sales Support before becoming a Sales Manager for China and then for the Asian region. Today, I am working on developing new business segments. These jobs have also given me the opportunity to pursue my skills in marketing and branding, as we communicate our passion to our customers.

Over the years I have been lucky to learn from and work with some great people, including customers and partners, which has been really inspiring. I can see myself always working for the company.

What do you think we can be doing to inspire and encourage more young women?

We should share more of our successes, encourage young women to be braver, to be more active and express themselves boldly. They should use the opportunity in workplaces like Schréder to focus on their personal skills and experience to evolve and make the business grow.

What women have had the greatest impact on your life, and why?

Not surprisingly, my mum. She is always optimistic and cheerful no matter what happens - she made me feel that taking a positive spin on life is the most important.
‘Only active people can succeed in the rapidly changing competitive environment’ that’s what she would often say.

What is your greatest achievement in work to date?

I am really proud of the customer relationships that I have built up in the Southeast Asian region and being able to successfully hand them over to my colleagues. I always want to have the courage to accept new challenges.

What advice would you give young women starting their professional career today?

Don’t hesitate while you are young, strong and confident. Have the courage to challenge, follow your heart and live your true self. Love yourself and live for yourself.
